A food preservation workshop will be offered by Virginia Cooperative Extension at the Halifax Farmers Market on Saturday May 4th, 2013 at 10:00am. Eric Bowen, Area Food Safety Specialist, will be discussing how to preserve fresh foods using pressure canner/hot water bath methods and the basics of food safety including bacteria and food spoilage, canning and equipment, and freezing.
